Metro Group recently completed a critical boiler upgrade in a Bronx apartment building, replacing an aging sectional cast iron boiler with a modern dual-fuel gas-oil boiler and burner. Upgrading to a Dual-Fuel Heating System for Flexibility and Code Compliance
The existing system was outdated, relying solely on oil for heating. To future-proof the building and provide greater fuel flexibility, we upgraded to a dual-fuel system capable of burning both #2 fuel oil and natural gas. However, this transition came with a few challenges:

Upon inspection, our chimney specialists found that the existing brick-lined chimney did not meet current NYC fuel gas codes, which regulate the safe operation of gas-burning equipment. To resolve this, we designed and installed a stainless-steel liner, ensuring the system complied with regulations and provided safe, efficient exhaust flow.
